Game Eleven
Mitchell
remains undefeated as Post 320's pitching struggles

Brad Winkelman delivers a pitch in Friday
night's game between Post 320 and Mitchell.
ABERDEEN -- After giving up the first
run of the game in the bottom half of the first inning, Mitchell Post 18
rebounded to score the next eleven runs of the game to capture their
third victory of the 2008 State "A" American Legion Baseball Tournament,
as they defeated Rapid City Post 320 11-5 in the match-up of the two
remaining undefeated teams.
Mitchell reached base early and often in the game, as a total
of 28 hitters reached base in the nine-inning contest. Despite having
all of those baserunners, however, Mitchell only converted 11 of those
28 into runs, and left a total of 14 runners on base. Mike Larson led
the offensive efforts for Mitchell with three hits, while his brother
Kyle reached base a total of five times. Post 320 didn't help themselves
any either, as they committed four errors throughout the game.
Post 18's Larson brothers combined to pitch the entire game
on the mound, as they limited Post 320 to just two runs before a late,
ninth-inning rally. Post 320 was limited to just six hits over the first
eight innings, and had opportunities to score as they also drew nine
walks, but ended up leaving 11 of their own runners on base.
Post 320 will now face Aberdeen in a loser-out game at 3:00
P.M. on Saturday afternoon, while Mitchell will face Post 22 with a
chance to eliminate the perennial powerhouse at 5:30 P.M.
