Fredrickson pitches Smittys past Watertown

Blair Fredrickson worked all seven innings in Aberdeen's 11-1 victory over Watertown.

ABERDEEN -- Behind the strength the pitching of Blair Fredrickson, the Aberdeen Smittys rolled to an 11-1 run-rule victory over Watertown in an elimination-round game Friday afternoon at Fossum Field. Fredrickson worked a complete game, in which he allowed just seven hits, one run, no walks and struck out four. Fredrickson, who is the son of former Smitty and Amateur great Curt Fredrickson, remains unbeaten on the year, and ups his record to 6-0 with an impressive 3.86 ERA.
The Smittys offense continued its march back from a team-wide slump as they pounded out 11 runs and 11 hits in just seven innings. Eight of the nine starters for Aberdeen reached base at least twice, as Watertown pitching allowed six walks and four hit batters to aid the Smitty offensive effort. Bryce Anglin collected three hits for the Smittys, including the lone extra base hit of the contest - a double in the fourth inning.
The Smittys will advance to play against an opponent and at a time that are yet to be determined on Saturday afternoon based on the structure of the legion rules and the double-elimination tournament.
