Head Coach Mark
Gulseth
Mark Gulseth will return for his ninth season at the helm of the
Aberdeen Smittys American Legion baseball program. Gulseth has led his
team to the State Tournament in each of his eight previous seasons,
including three second-place finishes, seven top-four finishes, and one
State Championship in 2008. Gulseth also had an impressive stint while
at the helm of the High School program, as he led the Smittys to State
Championships in 2004, 2005 and 2007, and was named High School Coach of
the Year in 2004 and 2005.
During his playing career, Gulseth was an All-American at the University
of New Mexico, and drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 19th round
of the 1993 amateur draft, where he reached the Triple-A level within
the organization before his retirement from professional baseball.
Gulseth is currently in his second year as the head baseball coach at
Northern State University in Aberdeen. Originally from Detroit Lakes,
Minnesota, Gulseth now resides in Aberdeen along with his wife Meredith
and their four children: Jaeger, Annika, Ryker and Cooper.
